For the second time in Bucharest scene there will be a group of young and energetic musicians from all over the continent, unified by their joint venture to share their never ending love for the great art form of jazz music. We are happy to invite you to the concert of Sharp Five where you will hear their original works inspired by the never old jazz tradition and amplified by their individual search for the meaning of life through composition.
On the stage will be:
Dion Hoorn (2004) is a jazz saxophonist who plays both alto and tenor saxophone. He studies at the Prince Claus Conservatoire, where he blends modern and traditional jazz into his own expressive sound. His playing is deeply influenced by jazz legends such as John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, and Charlie Parker, as well as contemporary musicians like Joshua Redman, Chris Cheek, Miguel Zenón, and Ben van Gelder. Dion has already shared the stage with renowned musicians including Billy Hart, Danny Grissett, Conrad Herwig, Reggie Washington, John Benitez and has performed with both the Noord Nederlands Orkest (NNO) and the Nationaal Jeugd Jazz Orkest (NJJO).
Tsvetomir Radev is a young Bulgarian clarinetist, born in 2005 in Sofia. He graduated from the National Music School "Lyubomir Pipkov" with a degree in clarinet under Assoc. Prof. Borislav Yotsov. He has performed in halls such as the "Bulgaria" Hall, the Golden Hall of the "Musikverein" Vienna, Bansko Jazz Festival, etc. His love for jazz began at a very early age because of his father, the drummer Ventsislav Radev. To this day, Tsvetomir tries to find the sensations and sounds that captivated him as a child, and to carry these feelings into the future and to the audience.
Denis Ascani began his musical journey at the Conservatory of Esch-sur-Alzette under Prof. Marc Harles and later continued his studies at the "Conservatoire du Luxembourg" with Michel Reis. He has performed in several big bands in Luxembourg, as well as in various jazz ensembles. Denis Ascani has participated in numerous workshops with renowned pianists such as Franck Amsallem, John Turville, Thilo Wagner, Matyás Gayer, Bruce Barth, and Kevin Hays.
Stilyan Radev is a Bulgarian double bass player who is currently studying jazz in the Netherlands. His background is classical music, but after he discovered his true passion in jazz and devoted himself completely to it. Despite his young age, he already has extensive experience on stage, having participated in festivals such as A to Jazz, Bansko Jazz Fest, as well as prestigious international forums in the Netherlands and Germany. He does not stop developing his musical style, through jazz music he finds inner peace.
Stilyan has had the opportunity to learn from greats like Joris Teepe, Boris Koslov and Dado Moroni. He continues to develop his style while sharing the stage with musicians like Don Bradem, David Berkman, Mark Gross and many others.
Simeon Simeonov is a Bulgarian drummer who started his artistic path on the classical scene but he later found his passion for jazz. Simeon graduated Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen where he had the privilege to learn from greats like Gregory Hutchinson, Joey Barron, Mike Clark and Billy Hart. His sound is influenced by jazz legends like Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones and Tony Williams as well as contemporary drummers such as Kyle Poole, Brian Blade and Francesco Ciniglio.
